trust me, it's a 16 valve duratec as in the same as what's in a 2007 focus

there's another press release that says it's a SOHC motor

Man, that's what I get for reading into it too fast.  For a second there I thought we were going to have a winner on our hands.

An SOHC?  NOOOO!  There goes my faith in Ford.

don't worry - it's not SOHC. it's a good 'ol duratec, the best damn 4 cyl being made (witness the mazdaspeed3 and 6 - same basic motor)

Honestly I havent really been a Focus fan, but this new body style is realy sexy. I like it. Out of curiosity and someones probably already asked this, are the Duratec motors swapable to the zx2? Im sure thered need to be motor mount fabrication, etc. Just curious. Is there a price tag for this new Focus yet?

no prices announced yet - as for fitting a duratec to a ZX2, it's feasable i believe if you use an escape tranny - that should make all but the timing cover mount bolt right into the zx2.

SRy Ive been away on this. Nice find Rob!!! As far as the ZX monical all my scorces say it will still be refered as ZX2/ZX4 just in a name. Ford is shaking things up a bit and dont want to further confuse ppl with new trim markers. As far as the aftermarket and Dealerships are going to refer to it as a ZX2.

naw - as much as i'd like to believe they are reviving the name, i think they are going to be called focus coupe and focus sedan, and that's it other than trim levels (SEL, SE, etc...)
