The car was purchased from Towson Ford on March 25, 2002. I had looked up the car on Ford.com and did a dealer search to see who had a ZX2 with the factory options I wanted. I arrived at Towson Ford 20 minuets before the truck that delivered the car. When I arrived I handed a salesman the VIN that I had written down from the search I had done on the Ford Web site. He went to look for the car, in a display case they had the Rear disk break kit and a blue IceMan intake displayed.

When the truck arrived they unloaded the car and drove it around the dealership to the window next to where I was sitting waiting for it. The salesman walked over to me and handed me the key and asked if I would like to test drive it. So we walked out to the car, as I got in I noticed hat the odometer only had 1 mile on it. When the test drive was over the car had 5 miles on it. I filled out the paperwork, then they handed me the antenna for the radio (which has never been put on the car, but I still have it LOL).

The modifications began on January 20, 2003 with the Kamen intake Mod and I was hooked on modifying the car, from there I'll just list the mods with the dates they were installed, until I get to some of the more interesting stories...

4/3/2003 I installed a piece of aluminum lathe as a grill in the front bumper to protect the factory fog lamps.
9/3/2003 the ATX shift kit was installed.
8/7/2004 I installed a Trubendz cat-back exhaust 2.5” tubes, Magnaflow resonator and AeroTurbine 2540i Sport-Compact Muffler (all T403 stainless)
10/11/2004 I installed a 19MM rear sway bar, and new end links.
4/22/2005 I began experimenting with ways to improve fuel economy of the car by installing a Tornadoe Ki70 in the intake just after the MAF.
6/27/2005 I installed a set of Axiom Edge mirror covers (which are no longer on the car).
1/8/2006 I installed Powder's under drive pulley for the serpentine belt.
6/5/2006 I installed a Fuel atomizer/PVC catch car – my car no longer deposits oil in the catch can.
07/07/2006 VIS Bullet Fenders were installed, they are no longer on the car, but I have them.
06/18/2007 a Wings West lip kit and JSP Apachee wing were installed.
08/13/2007 I installed a hydrogen generator device in the car (it was a wast of money in the long run)
09/06/2007 ICW 5 spoke rims were put on the car.
01/10/2008 I did the Crazy guy airbox mod
02/07/2007 I replaced the factory battery connectors with gold plated ones.
03/03/2008 I installed a ZXTuner “Roush” intake.
03/06/2008 I installed a JBA short header.
05/08/2008 I did the Mechtech MAF Mod
07/30/2008 I installed a MTX throttle body that was bored to 61mm with intake manifle that was ported to match.
08/22/2008 – installed a racing front seat.
11/04/2008 – the VCT failed so I had it disabled in tuning by McNews Automotive on 11/14/2008
03/17/2009 I installed a one piece front strut brace by Overkill Engineering Motorsports.
2009 All-Ford-Nationals I a had hood a strut kit istalled on the show field.
04/15/2010 the second factory cat failed, so I had McNews fabricate a new 2.5” down pipe with a Hi-Flow cat and had it installed.
07/18/2010 I installed Coil On Plug (using coils from a Dodge Intrepid).
09/18/2010 My brother and I installed Rear disk brakes, new struts and lowering springs
08/03/2011 I installed an S/R gauge cluster after swapping the original Odometer into it.
09/30/2011 after ruining three sets of ford badges I finally installed yellow background Ford Emblems.
03/17/2012 I purchased the Pro-Tuner package from SCT.
11/17/2012 After having my original engine loose compression, I purchased and installed DexterZX2's engine.
2/01/2013 the torque converter went out of the factory transmission, and I had a rebuilt trans by Level10 Installed. - During the test drive Pat Barrett offered to buy my car for $25,000.00. I've had two other offers for the car at that same price :) I just enjoy driving it too much to sell it at any price, because I know I would regret it!
02/26/2017 #30 fuel injectors were installed.
12/10/2018 LED/HID headlamps were installed.
I didn't record the dates, but the car also has a bluetooth sony head unit, 4 chanel kenwood amp, sony x-plod door speakers, 3 way rear deck speakers, and a kenwood single channel amp with 10 inch sub, and ZX2 gray center arm rest. Over the years since I purchased the pro racer package I've been doing my own tuning, the latest dyno tune had the car maxing out at 117 WHP and 117 FTLbs Torque at 5700RPM.

and the mods continue....

My next project is a wood gauge surround (real wood not vynal).

We are one of the old g's still in the zx2 world. I bought mine in 2003 as well. Why sell it if you like it?

Exactly my thoughts, krux.

As for pictures, the site is saying I'm restricted to 4 per post, so here are 4, beginning with the most recent....

if you look closely at the photo of the back of the car you will notice that the license tag says "Collectible" on it. In Pa the S/R and Premium package ZX2's qualify as collectible cars because of the low production numbers. With all options that came on the car from the factory my car was only 1 of 71 like it sold in the US for 2002, and with the collectible registration status it is emissions exempt as long as the car is registered in Pa.

That's cool to learn that if it's a low production car it qualifies for exempt.

I need to wait until 2021 to claim mine as a collector here in Minnesota. I barely drive mine due to the weather and my career schedule. My goal is to get it out more and more as time goes on. Also trying to find how much it will set me back to add another garage to my house. One garage for the daily drivers and the second for my summer cars (Zx2 & Mustang).

Both my ZX2 and daily driver have never been kept in a garage. I'm still trying to find a way to buy a house, but I need to pay off my debts from starting my business first.

update as of 10-1-2019

The S/R Cluster now has a Zinc Chromate Yellow gauge surround in it.

I have a quote for the new exterior paint color I want to put on it after the rust is repaired....

The New color will be "Jaguar Midnight" which is a Metallic Blue-Black
The "Roush pattern will be Reflective Zinc Chromate  Yellow
and it will be covered with Polyurethane Clear
